Yuendumu which is 293km northwest of Alice Springs on the Tanami Track where this dog program began, rescues adorable desert dogs, it is run by Warlukurlangu Artists of Yuendumu, the art work that you see on this site comes from here.

Gloria Morales 'The Dog Lady' started the program seven years ago when the township was over run with dogs.

Gloria Morales established the Desert Dog Project and says that "one of the most effective things we can do is to stabilise the breeding cycle and we have gradually halved the dog population, which has hugely improved the health and well being of the dogs.

Cross Vets, who have provided them with reduced rates for all their veterinary work.

As the dog program in Yuendumu improves, other local communities now bring abandoned and sick dogs to "The Dog Lady" who needs assistance with basic vet supplies and funds to transport dogs to vets in the cities. We also need QANTAS passengers who are prepared to accompany a dog to a new home or to a foster carer in major cities as this saves the Dog Project paying freight charges. If you would like to help, or to obtain more information, please phone Gloria on 0407 716 905.

AMRRIC stands for Animal Management in Rural and Remote Indigenous Communities and is an independent group of Veterinarians, academics, health professionals and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We work to improve the health and wellbeing of companion animals and improve the overall health and wellbeing of remote Indigenous communities.

Their aim is to re-home these beautiful dogs. The dogs and puppies available have been saved, thanks to their rescuer Gloria, and foster carer Roz are now trying to find them permanent homes.

Desert dogs and puppies are now available for the special adoption fee of $400 thanks to both AMRRIC , the Green

The breed of puppy is to the best of both our and our vets knowledge however its in good faith and still only a guess as usually we don't know the parents therefore we are unable to determine its breed/fully grown size etc therefore it is given in good faith and you should be prepared for either a bigger or smaller size dog than expected.
